Lijewski and Schroeder Win Second WMT Event in as many weeks


There were thirteen legal muskies registered at the WMT's Lake Mohawksin tournament on Saturday, August 23rd. The first muskie registered was a 38 1/2 incher at 6:39am by the team of Don Groskopf and Dan Winkler. The largest muskie of the contest scored 42 inches at 10:00am by Bill Millhausen and Paul Peterson. At 1:10pm, Mark Lijewski and Clay Schroeder would be the first team to land two muskies for the contest with a 40 3/4 incher, to add to their first muskie at 8:21am measuring 41 1/4 inches. The second team to double up for the day would be Jason Baratka and Jason Weik when they scored a 39 3/4" muskie at 1:45pm and a 39 1/2" muskie at 3:51pm. The final muskie of the day would also be the second muskie the team of Derek Bartz and Mark Myre at 3:53pm and would score 39 1/2 inches to go along with their earlier catch of 34 1/4" at 10:13am.

Other teams who scored on muskies during the WMT's Lake Mohawksin tournament were: Deron Shymkewich and Craig Freund 36" at 7:05am, Dan & Mike Wojtusik 37 3/4" at 8:20am, Jamie Sankey and James Sievwright 34 1/4" at 9:10am, Bob Bender and Snuffy Smith 34" at 11:21am, and Brent Martin and Brian Krelle 37 3/4" at 3:49pm.

The WMT's Lake Mohawksin "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER:(TM) tournament's top five finishers were:

1st - Mark Lijewski/Clay Schroeder
2nd - Jason Baratka/Jason Weik
3rd - Derek Bartz/Mark Myre
4th - Bill Millhausen/Paul Peterson
5th - Don Groskopf/Dan Winkler

The next tournaments for the WMT is a "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"(TM) weekend with the Eagle River Chain tournament Saturday, September 6th and the Sand/Dam Lake Chain on Sunday, September 7th. Because the Eagle River Chain and Sand/Dam Lake Chain tournaments are a "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"(TM) weekend, the team who wins both of the tournaments back-to-back will win the $20,000.00 bonus, that would tally $40,000.00 for the weekend for the winning team with a full field. During the weekend, anglers will be looking also to capture a 50 inch muskie and take home the $20,000.00 fifty inch pool.

Both of the Eagle River Chain and Sand/Dam Lake Chain tournaments still have some open spots. It is still possible to sign up for the event by logging on to the WMT's web site www.WMTseries.com for the entry form, and mailing it to the WMT. Also, you can sign up for the tournaments on Friday, September 5th at the Hiawatha Supper Club on HWY 17 on the north side of Eagle River on the shores of Duck Lake, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. And, you can sign up for the Sand/Dam Lake Chain tournament on Saturday, September 6th at the Hiawatha Supper Club from 6:00pm to 6:30pm.

All of the WMT's one-day tournaments and Major Open Championship are open to the public. You can fish in one tournament or as many as you like.
