Meyer and Meyer Capture Win at Lac Vieux Desert

The Wisconsin Muskie Tour™ (WMT) first event north of HWY 10 was held on Lac Vieux Desert on Saturday, May 23rd. The morning started out promising as the night time temps remained high, starting the days fishing at fifty four degrees with over cast skies, but the muskies had other plans. Numerous sublegal muskies would be captured by the WMT competitors, with seven to eight muskies over 34 inches but under the legal size limit of forty inches. There would be only two legal muskie to be registered for the Lac Vieux Desert "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ qualifier.

The first of the day wouldn't come until 11:44am when Mark Lijewski and Clay Schroeder moved to deeper water to land a nice 43.25 incher that seem to be the sure winner on the slow day of . However, Ron and Ryan Meyer had other plans as the brothers were able to score on a 45" inch muskie at 2:10pm, giving their team the most inches for the contest.

The WMT's Lac Vieux Desert "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ top five finishers were:
1st - Ron & Ryan Meyer
2nd - Mark Lijewski/Clay Schroeder
3rd - John Cestkowski/David Godin
4th - Don Groskopf/Dan Winkler
5th - Doug Grant/Andy VanSleet

The next tournaments for the WMT are "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ events on the Phillips Chain of Lakes and Butternut Lake this weekend of May 30th and May 31st. There are still some spots open for each tourney. If you would like to fish the Phillips Chain tournament, you can sign up for the tourney on Friday, May 29th at the Birch Island Resort on the Wilson Lake of the chain between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.
