Kastner and Emmerich Win WMT'S Minocqua Qualifier


The Wisconsin Muskie Tour™ (WMT) "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ qualifier, on Lakes Minocqua/Kawaguesaga Sunday, June 21st, would set a WMT record for the biggest average size muskies registered in a tournament with a 34 inch size limit, as the average size muskie for the contest would measure about 42.25 inches. There would be eight muskies registered for the single day tournament.

The first muskie to be registered during the day would be from the team of Ryan Bock and Tyler Maney when they scored on a dandy 43.75 incher at 6:52am. Brian Kastner and Brian Emmerich would get in to the action at 7:36am when they scored on a hefty 45" muskie. At 7:38am, the lead would change for a third time when Jeff VanRemortel and Matt Raley measured another nice 45.25 inch muskie. The largest muskie of the contest would be tallied by Bill Hill and Neil Barnett at 9:03am, when they landed a 45.75" brute. The lead would change for the fifth time when Mark Gillich and Joey Rozanski scored on their second fish of the contest at 9:27am that measured 40 inches, to add to their earlier catch of 36 ˝ inches at 8:55am. At 12:23pm, for the sixth and final time, the lead would be captured and held by Emmerich and Kastner when they scored on a 36.75" muskie. The final team to measure a muskie would be Keith and Ken Krejci at 2:05pm that tallied 44.75 inches.

The WMT's Lakes Minocqua/Kawaguesaga "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ tournament top five finishers were:
1st - Brian Emmerich/Brian Kastner
2nd - Mark Gillich/Joey Rozanski
3rd - Neil Barnett/Bill Hill
4th - Jeff VanRemortel/Matt Raley
5th - Ken & Keith Krejci

The next tournaments for the WMT are "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ events on Pike/Round Lake Chain and Squirrel Lake this weekend of June 27th and 28th. There are still some spots open for each tourney. If you would like to fish the Pike/Round Lake Chain tournament, you can sign up for the tourney on Friday, June 26th at the Moose Jaw Resort on the west side of Round Lake off Shady Knoll Drive between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Registration for the Squirrel Lake event will be on Saturday, June 27th also at the Moose Jaw Resort from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
