Wirt and Wirt Win WMT'S Mohawksin Event in Exciting Fashion

The Wisconsin Muskie Tour™ (WMT) "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ qualifier, on Lake Mohawksin Saturday, June 20th, would turn out to be one of the most exciting finishes in WMT history when the Wirt brothers would measure the final muskie of the contest with just seconds left during tournament hours. There would be ten muskies registered for the single day tournament.

The first muskie to be registered during the day would be from the team of Caleb Deffner and Chris Radandtl when they scored on a dandy 42.50 incher at 6:44am. At 10:17am, Phil Markgraf and Randy Kauranen would tally a muskie of 38.25 inches. The largest muskie of the competition would be scored by George Kingsland and Jason VanDemark at 10:36am and measured 45.50 inches. Chris and Ken Edwardson would tally a 39" muskie at 2:17pm that would land the team a fourth place finish. At 3:27pm, Brad and Al Wirt would register a 34" muskie, but by the time the team waited their fifteen minutes after the successful release of their first muskie, Brad and Al had only eighteen minute left in the competition, the duo had the winning fish with only seconds left on the clock, registering a 34.50 incher at 4:00pm for the victory.

Other anglers to score on muskies during the WMT's Lake Mohawksin "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER™" were: Even and Buck Derleth 38" at 7:43am, Scott Schiesser & Stoney Wireman 36" at 7:52am, Kraig Kolka & Andy Mann 35.75" at 10:10am, and Marcus Malyuk & Tom Wilson 34.50" at 2:46pm.

The WMT's Lake Mohawksin "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"™ top five finishers were:
1st - Brad & Al Wirt
2nd - George Kingsland/Jason VanDemark
3rd - Caleb Deffner/Chris Randandt
4th - Chris & Ken Edwardson
5th - Phil Markgraf/Randy Kauranen
