Lewandowski and Dassow Win Boom Lake Tournament

The WMT started up the second half of the season, after a month off in July, with a bang on Boom Lake in Rhinelander on August 5th. Fifteen muskies would be registered by the full field of participants.

Shortly after the 6:00am ease-out, the father and son team of Lee and Paul Bastian would tally the first muskie of the contest at 6:30am with a 39 ½ inch muskie. The lead would change hands shortly afterwards, when Mark Gillich landed a 49 ¼ inch beauty at 6:44am. By 9:56am, the event would be decided when the team of Scott Lewandowski and Dan Dassow scored their second muskie of the day, a robust 45 incher to add to the 42 ½ inch muskie that the team had registered earlier at 9:24am. These two fish would eventually give the duo the victory.

At 12:48pm, Brent Heikkinen and Gary Bushong scored on hefty 41 ½ inch muskie that would land them a 5th place finish. After Lewandowski and Dassow’s impressive double, most of the teams were fishing for second place. At 2:20pm, the Bastian’s would land their second of the day with a 35 inch fish, but their second place standing would be short-lived. Jim Olson and James Holloway measured their second fish of 43 ¾ inches at 3:07pm, to go along with a 38 ¾ incher caught at 9:43am and these fish would give them a second place finish.

The WMT’s Boom Lake tournament finished as follows:

2nd place: Jim Olson and James Holloway 38 ¾” + 43 ¾”
3rd place: Lee and Paul Bastian 39 ½” + 35”
4th place: Mark Gillich 49 ¼”
5th place: Brent Heikkinen and Gary Bushong 41 ½”
6TH place: John Bennett and Brent Kiedrowski 39 ½”
7th place: Clay Schroeder and Mark Lijewski 39 ¼”
8th place: Steve Bogdanovic and Dan Rahmer 39”
9th place: Kent Stadler and Jeff Langlois 38 ¼” @ 8:40am
10th place: Steve and Mike Schneider 39 ¼” @ 11:10am
11th place: Matt Masche and Ken Baltz Sr. 37 ½”
12TH place: Denny Spencer and Curt Mohney 36 ¼”
